Croatia - Let's do IT together
IT will help us meet our goal
The Croatian Government has a strong commitment to provide a stimulating environment for development of knowledge-intensive sectors. Innovative solutions generate competitive advantages and the basis for profitable growth. This is why we are doing everything to ensure that technology does not become an end in itself. With government support, a reform of business processes within public administrative bodies is taking place. Such actions in the economy will drive productivity and competitiveness.
Creating favourable business conditions
All this takes place at a time when Croatia is making tremendous efforts within the European Union accession process, and conducting all-encompassing structural reforms in this context. We believe reforms may be accomplished by implementing modern methods, using modern technology and with the positive experiences from our European surroundings; in 2004 we began the implementation of the e-Croatia 2007 Program. The set goal was that by the time Croatia became a full member of the European Union, a modern, innovative and user-centred public administration would be in place, and to have achieved the same level of development of content and information services as European Union member countries. To date, we have also started several reforms in order to create favourable business conditions in Croatia (HITRO.hr, HITROREZ).
The Croatian IT industry has more than 1500 companies, with many of which are very successful in the international market. Several innovative and very successful companies are represented here at CEBIT, although the Croatian IT sector has far more to offer in international market.
Knowing that technology is a basic precondition for establishing such services and knowing how to use that technology in the right way we have together accomplished many successes in the development of the Croatian information society. IT is helping us meet our goal.
